Accommodation

Accommodation is with a local host family and includes breakfast and an evening meal Monday to Friday, and all meals at the weekend. Cost is £125 per week.

Where will I stay?

We recommend that you stay with a local host family. Living as part of a family means you will have plenty of chance to speak and listen to English and it gives you an ideal chance to experience the English way of life. We can, however, arrange hotel or guest house accommodation if you wish.

Who are the host families?

We have lots of different host families: a retired couple

We have a wide range of different host families. Some are young, some are older, some have young children, some have older children; they all enjoy looking after their foreign guests while they are studying at Cicero.

A host family with a young child

Our students have different wishes. Some want to stay with a family with children or a family with no children, others prefer to stay with older people. If you have any special wishes, please write these on your booking form and we will do our best to find the right family for you.

How do you select the host families?

Our accommodation officer visits all our families to make sure they and the accommodation are suitable. She has regular contact with the host families and she will select a family which suits your requirements. Our accommodation officer only selects the host families where she feels she would be happy to stay herself.

I am a vegetarian - have you got a family for me?

Yes. Many students have special needs. You just need to tell us the details when you book.

What can I expect of my host family?

Some typical English housesYou will have your own room and your host family will provide you with breakfast and a main evening meal from Monday to Friday, plus lunch on Saturdays and Sundays if you are at home. Your host family will also do your everyday washing for you.

How much does it cost?

£125 per week from the Sunday before your course starts to the Saturday after it ends. Additional nights can be booked at £24 per night.

Where can I get lunch on school days?

There are plenty of sandwich and snack bars and restaurants in the town. The school also has a small students' room with a hot and cold drinks machine, microwave ovens and a fridge, all of which you may use.

Will any other students be staying with my host family?

Some families only take one student, others take two but there is always a maximum of three. Each student will have his or her own single room and you will be the only student of your nationality and language throughout your stay.

I am booking a course together with my partner - can we share a double room?

Yes, you just need to tell us this on your booking form.

Where do the host families live?

Most are within 30 minutes on foot from the school, or a short bus ride away.

I don't want to stay with a host family - is there an alternative?

There are hotels and guest houses which provide bed and breakfast. If you let us know what you would like, we will send you details and prices.
