These optional, extra afternoon courses can be booked in combination with our General English Course GC.20, which have 20 lesson units each week in the mornings.

You can book these courses for one or more weeks to start on any Monday between 8th January and 15th December (except Gardens) but if you book dates which are not listed below there is a supplementary charge of £90 per week.

English + Afternoon Tea

An introduction to the English tradition of “taking afternoon tea“. Learn about different kinds of teas and their production, prepare a full cream tea with a cookery teacher and go with a teacher to sample a traditional tea in a local tea-shop or hotel.

English + Aromatherapy

The course takes place at a local therapy clinic. Lessons may cover: an introduction to the theory of aromatherapy; demonstration and use of the basic essential oils for home use; mixing oils for personal use and use of oils to create a harmonious environment. Our teacher is a qualified and experienced aromatherapist and she will provide all equipment.

Practical lessons with an experienced and qualified art teacher. Learn about drawing, still life, landscapes and abstract art. Please tell us in advance if you wish to study a particular topic.

Learn about basic icing techniques, uses of marzipan and sugarpaste, making sugar flowers, writing in icing, modelling and techniques used to produce a professional finish.

English + Cookery

Create delicious meals including traditional English dishes such as shepherd's pie, toad-in-the-hole, steak-and-kidney pie, sponge cakes and apple crumble as well as popular recipes from France and Italy. The teacher is a qualified and experienced cook.

English + Dancing

Choose from tap, ballet, ballroom (waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep), or Latin American (jive, samba, rumba, paso doble, salsa, cha-cha). The teacher is a qualified and experienced dancer. Please bring suitable comfortable footwear and clothing.

English + Flower Arranging

Learn how to make your own superb dried and fresh flower arrangements such as table arrangements, bridal displays and seasonal decorations. The teacher is a professional, qualified flower arranger. All equipment and flowers are included.

English + Gardens

Visit some beautiful English gardens where you will learn about garden design and history, as well as typical English flowers, shrubs and trees.

English + Golf

Beginners in golf will learn correct stance and grip, how to swing a golf club using woods and irons, approach shots and putting. More advanced golf students will concentrate on improving existing skills.
Lessons are with a PGA (Professional Golfers Association) instructor at a nearby golf course.
You will need to wear golf shoes, trainers or other shoes with a good grip. If it rains, you will usually use indoor facilities. Golf clubs and balls are provided.

English + Horse-riding

Learn basic horse-riding skills or improve your existing skills with qualified riding instructors. Transport to the riding school is included in the price. You will need to bring sturdy, non-slip footwear with a slight heel and a waterproof coat in case it rains.

Practical lessons as well as theory in design and layout; exploring colour - mixing and matching; decorating using a variety of techniques; mosaics; fabrics and furnishings.

English + Tennis

Suitable for beginners to advanced levels. A qualified PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) instructor will assess your ability and design a suitable programme to improve your game. Please bring your own tennis racket and suitable clothing (tracksuit, shorts, etc.).
