General information about our English language courses for young learners
I felt completely safe all the time because if I couldn't find my way around the city, I could call the leaders and they would guide me. Amalie, Denmark
How old should I be to go on a course?
Between 13 and 18 years old for our courses in Thanet and 16 or over for our courses in Tunbridge Wells. If you have already left school then our English courses at our year-round school in Tunbridge Wells may be of interest to you. Click here for information on our adult courses in England.
Who are the students?
Our students are school children from all over the world who want to improve their English. The lessons will help you with your English at school.
I don't speak any English yet; are the courses suitable for me?
No, you need to be able to speak at least a little English. The courses are not suitable for complete beginners.
How do I book?
Simply click on "Book a course" and fill out the form. We will then send you written confirmation of your booking. You should wait for our confirmation of your booking, or check with us that there is a place free on the course of your choice, before you book your flight.
What do we do when there aren’t any lessons?
We have put together a varied and interesting leisure programme with something to do on most afternoons and / or evenings. There is something for everyone - a mixture of sport and games, culture, sightseeing and of course, shopping.
You will find a list of what is included in your programme with the description of each course town.
The activities were good and fun. Justine, France
Do I have to take part in all the activities?
If you are over 16, then you do not have to take part in all of the activities. If you are under 16 and do not want to take part in all of the activities then we will need written permission from your parents saying that you do not have to. Most people take part in all of the activities because they are fun and interesting; we always spend a lot of time finding out what interests our students and what they like doing.
Is there anything else I should know?
Yes – on our homestay courses in Thanet, for all the evening activities, we organise a bus that will drop you off near your host family, or we pay for a taxi to take you to your house.
I was really happy with the activities because there were always different options and you could choose whatever you wanted. Allan, Mexico
What activities do I have to pay for myself?
None - they are all included in the course price.
What, you even pay for things like the London Eye, etc.?!
Yes, we do.
Hmm! There must be a “hidden extra” somewhere - there always is!
No, with us there isn’t!
Do I need Insurance?
We strongly recommend that you take out insurance, as this will provide you with immediate cover should you be prevented from travelling due to an illness or serious accident. You can take out your own insurance or take out the International Student Policy offered by Endsleigh Insurance Services Limited, which has been specially designed for overseas students studying in the UK. The International Student Policy covers emergency medical expenses, personal belongings, personal accident, legal expenses, personal liability and course fees.
