Lessons
What class will I be in?
On the first day you will do a short written test which lasts about 1 hour. After a short break we will put you in a class of the right level.
How many students are there in each class?
There are never more than 13 students in each class.
How many lessons will I have?
There are 20 lessons of 45 minutes a week, even when there is a public holiday.
Lessons are normally held from 09:30 to 11:00 and 11:30 to 13:00. These are usually on weekdays but, depending on the arrival day, may sometimes be at a weekend. When there is a day trip on a weekday, there may be a weekend lesson in order to fit in the full number of lessons for that week.
What will I learn in the lessons?
Our main aim is to help you improve your English marks at school. What you actually learn will depend on how old you are, what you need at school and where your weaknesses lie. On the first day you will be asked to fill out a needs analysis. This will help the teacher with the planning of your lessons.
Have you got problems with English grammar? Then we will repeat and practise things like the tenses, adjectives, adverbs, if-clauses, reported speech, passive etc.
Do you have difficulty giving accurate answers to questions to a difficult text? We will teach you the art of answering such questions and go through the rules from “A to Z”.
Are your marks bad when it comes to writing summaries, essays, interpretations and characterisation etc.? We will teach you the techniques involved with each of these.
I don’t have to work too hard do I? - It is my holiday as well!!
Oh yes - we expect you to work hard. But don’t worry - the lessons in England are totally different to those in your school. You might not believe that you can learn and have fun at the same time but anyone who comes on one of our courses soon realises that this is indeed true!
Who are the teachers?
Our teachers are specially trained by us to teach on our language courses. A lot of them have worked with us for many years. They are experienced, motivated and enjoy working with young people. Most classes have the same teacher for the whole course, which enables him/her to get to know the students’ strong and weak points and to plan the lessons accordingly.
